Dani Abstract Poems

America is all I know
Or' the land of the free and the home of the brave
That's how it goes right
But that freedom comes with a price
...

How do you know they're not the one for you
The one to turn your gray skies blue
You'll never know that if you keep holding back
But you're afraid to try something new
...

I hear you telling me you ready, but before we go
There are some things about me that I think you need to know
They are hidden deep beneath the surface not shown to the world
And it could make you change your mind once they start to unfurl
...

Shouting John, always in a suit and tie
Waves to everybody "hey" hugs everybody "bye"
But behind that big ole smile is an even bigger lie
Cause he kiss them girls and he make them cry
...

If dry for too long
It's bound to crack
And so this morning my eyes
Went under attack
...

Be the peace you so desperately need
Give the love you would want to receive
Extend the hand that you needed to hold
Say the words that you wish you were told

American Anthems

America is all I know
Or' the land of the free and the home of the brave
That's how it goes right
But that freedom comes with a price
Here is where civil liberties are sacrificed
to appease those in power
And the masses tend to cower
Rather silent than to speak as did the unshackled slave
And this is my country
Or' the land of the free and the home of the brave

But America is all I know
Oh beautiful for spacious skies
But till the blind are blessed to see
that beauty and comfort is found in hypocrisy
To the world we rush to aid and send
but in our own land we pretend
not to witness our own demise
Oil and blood spill
And still they drill
for dirty deals and dollar bills
They don't care what's killed
just trying to fill that emptiness inside
Lord when is it enough
to fill their cups
when will they open their eyes
And this is my country,
Oh beautiful for spacious skies

Still America is all that I know
Land that I love, Grandest on Earth
The economy collapses and the spending continues
Excuse me! I'll have everything on the menu!
Cause now days value is not a question of worth
for the need to be greedy was seeded through birth
and splurging is just a natural reaction
Our societies sick satisfaction
is a self destructive curse
And this is my country
Land that I love, Grandest on Earth

Oh but America, this America is all I've ever known
From every mountain side let freedom ring
Yet we are products and prisoners of class and category
Stereotyped by the innocents of race
Made to feel 'stay in your place! '
Oh the audacity of our president to yield a black man's face
He is due no respect, his neck is not red
Yet this is where his allegiance is pledged
This canary of injustice always has a song to sing
And this is my country?
From every mountain side let freedom ring

So...America is all that I know...
And we shall overcome someday

I hold the words of Edgar Allen to Annabel in my heart Which creates expectations that are doomed from the start For this generation knows no love that angels would covet The heights of his love soared far above this
