Shoreline Reminiscence Poem by Benitto Pavithran

Shoreline Reminiscence

Rating: 3.5

There was once a time when hatred was my love
Turning all elements around into pieces of disgust
For this very life had seemed blank, motionless
Contempt was a pardox and success, an irony.
I let the wagon of moments pass unnoticed
And along its trail of treacherous vistas
Little boxes tumbled out if it
So here I am strolling down the lane
When I come across those titbits scattered
Distraught as I was they hurdled towards me
Opening memories and unleashing happiness
Chains of predicament fell into heaps below
And I found myself seated in a roller coaster ride
It pranced and rode majestically around
Coursing and conquering lands afar
On a cliff it paused and I looked beyond
Where heaven kissed the earth as the stars looked upon
And foaming waves struggled to catch the image
But the breeze began to nudge and the ride kept going
In time I realised I was controlling it in fact
So piercing through graves of warnings I fled
Atop hills of pride and sands of humility
And presto! There appears a forgotten love
Joining my ride along beaches of yellow
But like the monsoon bliss she came and passed
Digging holes of patience into this soul of mine
The ride didn't stop, nay, but sped along
Gathering accomplices and rocketing skyward
Into clouds of euphoria and bubbles of joy
Engulfed by its magic I stood on the sands
Then pounced to seize and grab its lure
But alas! I was wrong, fir the magic was my company
Then came the nose dive back downhill
And we danced in merry as madness embraced excitement
At the foothills we parted ways
The ride coming to a total standstill
With a pounding heart and sand in my eyes I stared
For all that's left now are the memories
Memories, of a shoreline reminiscence
