She Turned Her Womb Into A Tomb Poem by Deborah Dalton

She Turned Her Womb Into A Tomb

Rating: 5.0

Her spirit
Her drive
Her passion
Has been trapped in a
Dark
Damp
Cold
Tomb

A tomb constructed
from walls that
nurtured
self hatred
self degradation
&
self abuse

A mausoleum whose
life line was severed
by
her guilt ridden
morality

A crypt whose
passage way to existence
had been barricaded
by the
heavy weight of
shame

A coffin
whose
lining was so
unyielding, that
not even her
kicks, screams, &
struggles could
be felt
by the hands
that laid upon
the smooth,
curved surface.

They were suffocated
their growth was stunted
they had nothing
on which to feed
they had no form
of expression

They only waited
for proof of
their mortality
