Sight Beyond Sight Poem by Deborah Dalton

Sight Beyond Sight

Rating: 5.0

Focus undone
to protect the story

Weary, but
unbranded glory

Undreamable scenarios
viewed
without knowing

Ties to heart strings
with unraveled
apprehension showing

Soft shelter
grinded harsh

Notes from a
saxaphone
crooning a
farce

Illegally longing
for
a righteous intent

Feeding a thirst
for energy
spent

Oh
the yearning
for vision
stable

Met instead with
passion
sacrificed on the
table

Unobscured by
cataracted
promises
lost and found

Like a heartbeat
missing
in the ultrasound

Stigmatized by
careless decisions

Dismayed by the
editors revisions

Blindfolded
by the cheese
in the traps

Beads of
chained jewelry
snapped

Bouncing rhythmically in deep unsearchable cracks-

Bouncing...
Rhythmically...
In...
Deep...
Unsearchable...
Cracks...

Mazes too intricate
to navigate
alone

A hearth too
narrow
for the plaque
'Home Sweet Home'

Pulsating warmth
compressed damp
with support

Facing a
biased judge
in court

Easing emotional migraines
piercing the picture

A garish
hot yellow
naive
future

Mouths spewing
obscenities
immune to the
threat of soap

Heralding a past
flourishing with
redemptive hope

Shackled
to the present
the exhaustive joy

Self indulgent
leisure
a collector's
priceless toy

And a future
inches
away,
locked with
a misplaced key

The siren song
skims the lazy
ripples of the sea

Seeking refuge in the
folds
of your ear

Novels of expectations
wasted in unshed tears

Coaxing peace and a
pregnant
connection

Hedging all bets
to be the
exception

Begging
oh so
silently

Just
to be
seen
clearly
