Paramnesia Poem by Deborah Dalton

Paramnesia

Rating: 5.0

There is a certain
Familiarity
Attached to your presence.
As if we have met somewhere before,
Rehashing the same conversation,
Exchanging glances
Which with whom we have had an earlier acquaintance
Smiles that generate a warmth
Already encountered.
But that is impossible.
For this is the first time our minds have engaged in
Intelligent banter.
The first time I have
Experienced the soothing touch of your hand
The heat of your gentle breath
The tenderness that lingers on your lips
The hunger demanded from your inescapable embrace
This untrodden passion
Has a label of familiar comfort
A certain rightness
As if soul-mates do exist,
This would be proof of its validity
As if destiny carefully arrange it
So that we would be with each other
If not forever,
Blissfully,
For
One
Night!
