Two people in one room
yet each feel alone
in their own world.
He's thinking of the increased
heating bill.
She's thinking of the increased
distance between them.
As he flips through the channels
with a half-conscious stare
he wonders what the future holds...
more unpaid bills
more collection notices.
As she scrawls her emotions
into an old tablet of paper
she wonders what the future holds...
more silence
more shared loneliness.
He looks at her and feels guilty
for not providing more.
She looks at him and feels guilty
for not knowing how to bridge
the distance between them.
No words are spoken.
He just flips the channel.
She just writes a poem.
So much said when not speaking, you have shown the reader how important it is to try and bridge gaps that have laid open for far too long, a skillful piece Love Duncan x
sometimes silence is so painful...and yet sometimes life throws up a friend with who hours and hours of silence is natural...love...nalini
Loneliness is a pathetic situation.............? If somebody talks it gives a courage to step into this void? Mary anyhow you shared the loneliness with the reader.
Skilful and accurate depiction of together-but-not-togetherness. Bittersweet. Grand write.
Very nice write. I love the feeling of separation that is in this one, each one forging ahead along a different road. Love Ernestine XXX
