Shame Poem by Hillary Unknown

Shame

Shame
It fills you
As you glance in the mirror
No matter what you do
You feel
Shame
It’s all your fault
No one else is to blame
You drag yourself along
Through life
Praying it won’t end like the songs
Shame
Why were you born this way?
Just for a laugh
Or a ‘cure’ for the day
Shame
Why does it matter?
People are different
Like a mad hatter
Shame
People are cruel
You try and forget
But never will they let you forget that rule
Shame
At your size
They fill your head
With a bunch of lies
Shame
Starving yourself
And playing the fool
Forgetting your health
Shame
Trying to get him or her
Longing for love
And forgetting who you were
Shame
As you realize what you’ve done
You’ve doubted your Creator’s creation
And His Son
Shame
Reigns as always
You try to change
But it seems it will always be this way
