Shalom Poem by Reginald Ruwende

Shalom

Rating: 4.5

Piercing cry parody of prior squeals unheard
Thine hums unintelligible entreaties floating around
In thine clenched fists all they confiscated
Shall I call you SHALOM!
Peace piercing into peace of perennial perverts
Shall I call you SHALOM!
Peace that shatters shattering inevitabilities
Shall I call you SHALOM!
Face-saver to byword bruised and battered
Grinding the juggernaut of villainy to a screeching halt

SHALOM!
Possession priceless akin to immediate kin
Irrefutably bearing resemblance to preening bearer
Shrapnel shrewdly sculpted and perfected
Elaborately twinkling in twilight of midnight
Dear daughter,
Dread not dreaded caricatures
Nor the jabberwocky of imaginery jabberwocks
In multitude of thine dreams is vanity
In His pinions you shall ever be safe
Ballads hanging on balustrades,
Lullabies unsung

SHALOM!
Revel in reveries of a morrow unseen
For my faith is so faithful never to fail
Breaking the silence with a typical shrill
Breaking the stubborn strands of bondage
To my litany of lamentations heavens have hearkened
Courtesy of divine grace bequeathed upon
Through CHRIST the chastisement that brought forth PEACE
Unto us a child is born
Unto us PEACE is proclaimed
Jehovah SHALOM!
Unto thee be the GLORY!
