Shadows Poem by Cheylee Miller

Shadows

As I sit in the shadows
And watch you play
I wonder,
'Will I ever be like you?
Will I ever be that big? '
So I sit and wait.

As the days go by
Day by day
I look at you
Then I look at me
I'm still quite smaller
But growing faster
So please wait on me

As I start to believe
I yell 'Look at me! '
I'm starting to catch up
As I wait and see

When I finally catch up I say,
'I sat in the shadows
And watched you play.
I wondered,
'Would I ever be like you?
Would I ever be that big? '
So I sat and waited'

Now I'm here,
Now I can say,
That if you believe
You can catch up
Even if you're behind
Until the final day.
