Words Said Tonight Poem by Cheylee Miller

As she murmers and lies
With her sweet little eyes
I think to myself
About the words said tonight

She was laughing and playing
When the news came on
The next second she was lying
In my lap saying,
'I don't want to be gone..'

-A girl has gone missing
She's about three or four-
Her eyes they glisten
As she plays on the floor

They look alike
Can't you see?
And the one here with me
Is my little tyke

'I love this girl
She's my little niece
And don't you worry
Just get some sleep..'

Those were the words I said
That night as I lay her in bed
'You do not need to worry or fret
I'm here and don't you ever forget! '

As I sit here tonight
Watching her murmer and lie
I think to myself
About the words said tonight
