Senses Poem by David Pass

Rating: 5.0

I am so glad that I can see:
Pretty flowers, a bush, a tree.
My friends and family close to me.
Watch the wildlife - a honey bee.

I am so glad that I can hear:
A moo, a bleat, a rutting deer.
Sounds do warn me, reducing fear.
Chatting with others brings good cheer.

I am so glad that I can feel.
As my foot lands, I bend my heel.
With hands touching, I turn the wheel.
With texture good I like the meal.

I am so glad that I can taste
Delicious food, there is no waste.
So bitter when with lemon laced
But over sweet when sugar based.

I am so glad that I can smell
Sweet roses and the pines as well.
A nasty smell - a warning bell,
So nice or not - helps me to tell.

With my senses I'm OK
But think of others not that way.
Who struggle on from day to day!
And view the future with dismay.
