Saviour Of My Soul Poem by Mark Heathcote

Saviour Of My Soul

In a glass of wine, we raise to you
We cup what once was refreshing dew
In a slice of oatmeal bread
We find a cloth weft of your living breath.

Lord, what can we do to pass this test?
Lord, what can we learn in your footsteps
When we are lost and at your behest
We all cannot still believe or find you.

Saviour of my soul when I dream of you
Will you dream me endue of any light
Will you dream me endue of any darkness
If I repent everything I've done unsavoury

And believe in you, Lord, always and forever.
Lord, grant me the courage to face death bravely
Lord, endow my life with love and laughter
And the frivolity of a cirrocumulus cloud.

Oh, in reflection, I have travelled far
But Lord, I still have far to go.
Saviour of my soul, amen,
Amen, amen, amen till we meet again.
