Save You Poem by Nicola Thoner

Save You

If I could save you.
before the storm
before the floods
before the plague

Reach out and taste you
Through saltwater deep
Your fingers running knots in my hair
Searching for the heat that will free you

The moonlight blinds in her rage
Shadows us, speaking only to us
Setting the tide higher
Sun further
Us closer

And I want to go
I want to go
But I sink so far
and for so long
That I lose
what it means to love

If this choice was mine
If I was to decide
Your fate pending
I would watch you rest on the waters
I would let you rise in the breeze
I would not refuse your steps to the boundary
But I would watch you fall in love instead of over the edge
I would save you
I would save you
I would save...
