Sattal Lake, Kumaon Hills Poem by Prakash Yardi

Sattal Lake, Kumaon Hills

Rating: 4.5

Sattal stands still
Its waters deep and placid blue
Reflecting like a mirror
The azure sky anew.

Sattal is at peace
And tranquillity at its best
Nature’s own child
Playing in varied moods.

Pine trees swaying
And warming up to breeze
Leaves shimmering silver,
In the sun’s even rays.

Encircled by mountains high
Under the canopy of the sky
Pine trees standing sentinel,
For Sattal is a sage, deep in meditation.

Not a word spoken
Nor birds' singing heard
Sattal envelops everything
And embraces them in its fold.

I entreat Sattal, solemnly,
Grant me a boon:
Teach me your age-old wisdom
And peace and harmony, with every one.
