Dress Code

Dress to kill

On the 24th of December

Lo and behold! Of yester year,

The feline community of three large counties:

Orange, Riverside and Los Angeles

Moonlighted its way up the Harmony Drive

Turning up in packs

Of petite cats and brazen toms

Bristling cats’ whiskers sharp,

And true to the Dress Code

‘Dress to kill’

Graced the Party

In their best, natural fur coats warm.

“Welcome, Signor and Signorina”

Entreated the host, Bagheera,

His eyes transfixed on a comely Catalina

“We have banished

Shivani and Vijay

For much needed rest and recuperation

To the far-off land

Of wild Indian elephants and slithering snakes;

The coast is wide and clear

You have no fear,

Let us have a ball

To celebrate liberty, fraternity and happiness to us, all.”

“Help yourselves to Chicken Soup and Stew,

Sea-food Medley and Cold Turkey too

Quail and Partridge, Dimsums and Quiché

All on Shivani & Vijay’s house,

Don’t you ask me that is which”.
