Sansoy At Salakot

Ang aming ninuno'y mga magbubukid
Wala silang mga sintetik na gamit
Ang panglaban nila sa ulan at unos
Di kapote kundi sansoy at salakot

Ang kulambo nila'y di yari sa nylon
At ang kasuotan ay hindi sa rayon
Pang-itaas nila'y kamisetang kapok
At ang pang-ibaba ay maong na pugot

Pampalengke nila'y di yari sa plastik
Kung hindi sa yantok, pandan o sa pawid
Kung mag-take out sila ng nila'y pagkain
Di sa styropor- sa upak ng saging

Ang kanilang kanin, luto sa palayok
Nila'y hinahango, bao ang pangsandok
Patis o bagoong, kanilang sawsawan
Wala sa porcelain kundi sa taptapan

Ang hapag kainan ay hindi monoblock
Kung hindi dulang na tinabtab, tinabas
Mula sa kahoy na nanggaling sa gubat
Kung gamitin nila'y nangakasalampak

Ang kanilang 'lighter', panggawa ng apoy
Di gumagamit ng butane o alcohol
Ito'y bato't bakal na pinagkikiskis
Himulmol ang mitsa, wicker o parikit

Bagaman sila ay walang iniabuloy
Sa ng ating mundo ay naging pagsulong
Sa pag-urong nama'y wala silang ambag
Ang sa kapaligira'y tuwirang pagwasak

Poem of the Day

poet Edmund Spenser

My love is like to ice, and I to fire:
How comes it then that this her cold so great
Is not dissolved through my so hot desire,
But harder grows the more I her entreat?
