The night lay before me like a vast ocean
Black, unfathomable and empty.
No moon to cast a shadow
Or to guide me through the inkiness to light.
I tossed and turned in sheer desperation
That I would be engulfed forever
In the sea of nothingness.
That I would be held captive here.
In the passing of hours panic spiralled
I bobbed, dizzy and disorientated,
Like a fishing boat tossed in a storm
But coming home at first light with a huge catch of fish.
