Sancta Simplicitas Moderna Poem by Gert Strydom

Sancta Simplicitas Moderna

(after A. G. Visser)

In front of the Devil innocence walks past
when the Satan realises that he is going to find no kind of rest,
notices her going innocently into the world
and decides to mislead her with a temptation.

She laughs at him like an angel and he is dumfounded
as she does not even try to avoid him,
winks at him and he is totally astonished
where she is trying to seduce him, the devil.
