Same Stars Poem by William McGehee

Same Stars

Same stars that shine on home still shine on me
Across the Earth,
Across the sky,
Beyond the fathoms of the sea.

Orion's hunt still lingers on.
The Bears still hold their sway.
The Dragon twists with sinews strong.
Polaris, bright, still points the way.

Then Jupiter calls forth his kin
To flex their power in the night,
The God of War, blood soak in sin,
And Beauty, close to morning light

Same gods, same eyes, same stars still shine on me
Across the Earth,
Across the sky,
Beyond the fathoms of the sea.
