Saffron Bright Poem by Mark Heathcote

Saffron Bright

The evening is like a crocus in the snow
All glory and might in blinding burning flames
Wearing an evening gown of starry light
Darling, I have to rub my eyes till they bleed
To believe I've brought you home tonight.

Darling, I have to rub my eyes till they bleed
To dance in those living flames
That'll be the guardian of all my days.
And banquet on the saffron nectar of your tongue
Oh, on a kiss rolling back and forth fiery bright.

Darling, let this evening crocus outshine the rose
Darling, let this moment never be chill.
Be it always melting into spring.
Darling, you are a shining sphere, saffron bright
All glory and might in blinding burning flames tonight.
