Ripples To Sea Poem by Timmy Tubbs

Ripples To Sea

Ripples To Sea

Everything just happened so fast
That’s all
I was walking in first
And that stumble through me in last
But I’m not mad

I’m unwinding my selfish ways
And the first steps a doosy
Let you be without me
All I do is bend your smile into frowns
After tiny whispers crawl to the surface
Of everything I wanted to say
Don’t worry; I swallowed them back down
Witnessing moments that bear our last

The word sorry is nailed to repeat
Making the hearts mouth numb of the word
And the brain jealous of all the fighting
The heart gets to do with his sword

Our hate is a magnet
We only see the side that pushes us apart
The side that your eyes kept hidden
Behind that kiss that marked the start

Ripples on the surface reflect a broken face
I’m waiting for them to settle
And when lay still,
Now begins my chase
To find who I am when you’re gone
The man held only by your song
I hope to witness a better guy
Polishing the stones that reflect his new born hope
Erasing your words and harmonies that trapped the wrong
Finding a crack in his life where he can fit
And pretend to belong

And time comes shedding old Band-Aids
Bearing new questions of how it all went wrong
One day I will squint from my shoulder
Just to see if you followed my tracks
For now though, I’m glued to a line
A line filled of your tacks
Highlighting more ripples and lost pieces
I’m Just hoping my water settles under these trembling hands
So I can finish this thesis
So I can stand

I am still weak; my frame annealed and black
But hope is still breathing, and faith just behind
Godspeed on your journey and don’t hold back
You will heal; I promise you
Just give it time
