Riding The Waves (Ramblings) Poem by Noah Body

Riding The Waves (Ramblings)

Riding rolling waves
Up, down, again and again

Riding high into the sun
Into the sky with the birds

Light and warmth abound
Shrouded in the soft glow
Peace soothes my heart
Tears melt away into smiles
Pain subsides,
Despair burns off
As a fog in the sunlight

I crest the wave
Hang there in the light
Start to slip down the backside
Into the pit.

Into the maw of the beast.
My heart breaks, my soul bleeds
For every inch I sink
The despair dials higher
Pain shoots through my mind
Tears start to torment me
Peace vanishes, like a thief in the night
Turmoil takes it's place

Down, down I slide
Into an endless night
Where the sun never touches
Down to where the worms devour all
No more sunlight, no more birds
Only the evil black of the darkest night

Lost, I flounder in the night.
Then the pit passes and I start to rise up
Up and up, and up some more
High into the sky
To the crest of the next wave
There to start all over again

Such is my cycle
The cycle of my life
Just another one of many cycles
That make up this world we call home
Day into night and night into day
Never ending, never changing
For time immemorial
