Reject Gods, Revisited Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Reject Gods, Revisited

Reject gods, revisited

In Kabul, I met them
-some kids, young
-future Taliban

I read things in their eyes
-then I read book of now:

'We do not revere your gods!
-No praying to your goddesses! '

The heralds proclaimed…
-making noise in their land
-they did not revere the gods,
-nor did they praise foreign goddess,
-they searched for Namtara, door to door…'

Rooted in Babylon! ! !

This is how I saw kids…now in books:

'Do not sit, don't sleep;
-shout and shout, shout out-loud
-kick them out, if goddess, or a god!
-Must not take anymore of suffer from them.'

Taliban and Daesh
-Che and rest of rebels
-those who die easily
-ones who kill freely
-are alike, same as the:
- 'Mesopotamian history
-now in books as the myths! '

This is what their bombs say
-start was in murmur…then shouted!
-underneath their tablets, says the sign:
- 'They are dead, we, alive
-we are them, they were us! '

Saw them look at the West; open eyes and listen
- 'Hard is to forget the Sassanids' residence; Maden? '
