Rejected Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Rejected

Rejected

“Want them know…”
He mentioned in anger:
“I hate them and I shall…forever! ”
Saw my mouth wide open:
“They must know, you also…”
I was shocked, in my face trace of:
“And why I…? ”
He ignored my question, unmentioned:
“I had home, good or bad, rich or not…”
Searched for me, my facial reflection.
My eyes must, have betrayed:
“But you had dictator; in Hama…
Uprising of 19-82, and those killed…”
He noticed that I know…partially:
“Sure true…but show a perfect house.”
He shifted, went simple:
“Even the parents and siblings…”
My gesture must have said:
“Cut it short, come to end.”
Rosy faced, his body full of shakes:
“You, neighbour, and other continents
Came fingered deep into intestines
Set demands and comments, went forward
That damaged…and killed us…”
I approved; not total:
“And so what? ”
Said honest, honesty has been my love:
“I hate you even if my bed is in your home.”
I showed him the content of my heart:
“Rejected refugee,
I agree, we are guilty.
I love you even though you hate me.”
