Reflection of pure mind

If poetry was useless
nobody could have accepted it on the face
it has not only spiritual significance
but relevant even today with a chance

kings from ancient times used to appoint
the artisans in the royal court
they were to decorate and highlight
the king's glory and put it right across

poetry reflects the pure mind
thoughts find
an easy outlet from the heart
and express it as an art

it not only heals
but reveals
the richness of mind
or prayers of any kind

poetry has made an inroad
and brought life to the dead mind
where the material gain has an upper hand
and no tragic end remains seen

poetry has self-revelation
for relation
between human beings
and even with animals

if the love and freedom concept was mooted
it was poetry that had shouted
'freedom and liberty is my birthright'
I shall fight till I have it
