Rebuilding A Friendship Poem by Rodney Dufault

Rebuilding A Friendship

One last time I say to you
'my love for you won't end',
while every night I pray that you
will always be my friend.

Open up your heart to me
and see how much I care.
I know that if you truly see
you will know my love is rare.

I cannot say in my own words
how much to me you mean.
Now we are free like soaring birds
with both our slates wiped clean.

Now, hopefully we will try again
to be the friends we should.
I don't know how you have been,
but I hope it's only good.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
One of the last poems I wrote for my wife before we got married. December '98. We got in an argument and she wouldn't come to see me.
