I Awoke Poem by Rodney Dufault

I Awoke

I awoke from my death, crawled from the lowliest depths,
and with the lonliest breath, I called for the only caress
that even remotely impressed to fill the hole in my chest,
and you came through the cold just to hold me abreast.
That is hopefully the only reason that my soul never left.
