Reason Seemed To Reign Poem by CAROL HUGHES

Reason Seemed To Reign

Rating: 5.0

I've nothing to say
Truly an unusual day
No urgent innate thoughts
Flowing as molten lava
Cascading, moving freely
Aching, demanding
To be penned
Etched in time
For all to read

Has the world
come to an end?
Has the Pope's edict
Condemning, dooming
Good people to the
Eternal pits of hell
Inched its darkening powers
Around the globe
Adding to the gloom?

Simply because caring people
Cast their vote for Obama
Breaking at long last
The White Supremist rule
Filling people with pride
Giving hope to millions
Of long suffering humans
The Pope declared that
Punishment was their due

For the Pope believes
They have violated
Basic tenets of their faith
In other words
You cannot vote
For a black man or woman
Communion will be denied
Connection to the
Congregation severed
Seek absolution, he demands

Without begging forgiveness
All doors will be
Closed to you forever
The God you love and trusted
Who created, you say,
All creatures
Must now hate
And disown you

Flounder you bounders
Recognize and admit
Your flagrant
Transgression
Unless you grovel
Hell will be yours
For eternity

Sadly.....some of the most wretched deeds perpetrated upon Mankind...are executed under that ignoble guise.....religion!
