Rain. Poem by Geoffrey Fafard

Rain.

Rating: 5.0

Rain.

After a long dry spell

Yesterday we had rain
Heavy scented fragrant
Downpour… soaking rain
For a couple of hours
And you know
As it washed down
my old face
That cool rain
Brought everything to life
Like nothing else would

The Torres Pigeons sang
The Plovers swooped and cried
The Cormorants fished
The Cockatoos screeched
In the perfumed air
Savvy the black dog
barked and splashed
The Finches and Honey eaters
Shivered their wings
Washing away the dust
In pure delight
The Wagtails ate insects
Washed by the rain
in absolute ecstasy

It does not get any better
Than this act ofpurification
Nothing in this world compares
With Mother Nature
When she throws all her cards
On your table..Yelling "come watch"
Outstanding…!

Yes John.... Sinister weather conditions at the moment for those in the dry country. Cheers mate. Hope this finds you keeping well. Geoffrey.
