Quirky Poem by Terry Hoffman

Quirky

I am who I want to be,
now that I have found
a special place within my head,
so I can be profound.

I decide when I shall rise,
when to go to bed.
I will determine what I do;
I am no longer led.

If I choose to comb my hair,
have a tousled look,
it's what I chose when I got up;
I don't go by the book,

If I want to wear my robe,
all throughout the day,
I do not care who rings my bell;
that is just my way.

If I choose to wear a dress,
while you wear your pants,
it is because I like the look
when I attend a dance.

I see films and like to laugh
loudly and with glee.
If others do not like the sound,
then do not sit by me.

If my home is quite a mess,
what is that to you?
Please, just respect the way I live;
I feel that is my due.

My phone plugs into the wall;
can't accom'ny me.
I do not need a fancy phone;
that way I feel more free.

I don't watch the TV set,
cable and the rest.
I just load in a movie disc
and watch what I like best.

If I buzz around the town,
on my scooter red,
you need not look at me askance.
I'm not in need of med.

I address my kitty cat,
like she is my peer.
If it is somewhat strange to you,
I do not want to hear.

If I write a quirky verse
and it's not your way,
don't you judge what I have penned, it's
what I feel today.
