Protect The Children At The Border Poem by Hebert Logerie

Protect The Children At The Border

Please keep the families together
Do not separate them at the border
They came as one, they must stay united
The children must not be separated
From their parents or their friends
Offer them kindness and helping hands
The children are our future
Please, please do not torture
Them psychologically, mentally
Physically or physiologically
This is a new era, please do not repeat
The mistakes of the past. The children
Need better hospitality, food to eat
Better shelter and better care. The lion's den
Should not be reserved for our babies
Listen to their cries, listen to the hostilities
Have a heart for humanity
Do not lose your sanity
The children are ours, they need their parents
They need tender loving care
Please protect our children from the ants
The flies and the mosquitoes. Be fair
To all children, they are the future
Love and protect them. Do not murder
Their soul. Please do not torture
And humiliate our children at the border
A child, without a smile, is in pain
A child who does not play is suffering
Where there is a rainbow, rain
Is not too far. Protect our innocent children
Keep them with their parents and their siblings
Far away from detention, jail or the lion's den.
