Pretend Poem by Beth Johnson

Pretend

My life is a clover
now that we're over

Blaming me for your mistakes
it's all give and no take

You told me I was your only
then you left me lonely

Standing in the pouring rain
all lies and many games

Promises you never kept
broken heart is all left

One day I may shine bright
if you won't block my light

Cause I may not be all there
I was a fool thought you cared

I'll be having a laugh
and I won't be so daft.

Chorus:
promises, promises you can't keep
even if you had my heart leap

Throwing pebbles on the shore
happiness embraced me pain no more.
