Premonition Poem by Luningning Minguez

Premonition

“Gusto ko lang naman magrelax, eh! , ”
Another one is, “Nangangalay na ko.., ”
carrying our baby.
“Para kong nilalagnat.., ”
I keep remembering those
phrases he once told.

It seems that Nimbus had mourned
with me that night
It was totally dark outside
“Swoosh! , ” said the winds
the dancing curtains…
Raindrops just pass in through
the grills of the window…

“Kay tagal kong sinusuyod
ang buong mundo para hanapin,
para hanapin ka…Sinusundo kita…
Sinusundo…Asahan mo mula ngayon
Pagibig ko’y sa’yo..., ”
I just learned my first piece on the guitar.
“Ano ba yan? ! Sa susunod nga
magiingat ka ha? , ”the cup of iced tea just
spilled out our bed.

“Starlight Express, Star light Express
are you real yes or no,
Starlight Express please
Answer me yes…
I don’t want you to go, ”
turned off the radio with that
last song in his life…
Who knows he’ll be heading
to a starlight express?

Never did he wake up…
First hour of the day…
Twenty sixth moon of May
Bang off the guitar…
He was shaking though…
Moaning unclear words,
(Can’t bear to describe all…)
He did not even say goodbye to me
Nor did he called my name
And shaking ends…
Jaws locked
And closed his eyes
I was not even told.

“There’s no forever now…
only life that ends”

I know.
