Pony Dream Poem by Marion Perrotta

Pony Dream

Pony Dream

There comes a pony in a dream
to sweep you up and ride away.
You say you’re not prepared to go
for fear that you’ll have nothing left to show
the ones that watched you fall apart
and mended up your broken heart.

The happy horses, the joyous jockeys
all standing at the edge of time.
And there you are with your little star
prancing at your place in line.

Your pony rears and you cling onto
whatever you can muster.
You both fall away
to a brand new day
into a starry cluster.

You ride along into the light.
The stardust leads your way.
Your pony never tires
of running night and day.

You ask yourself what place is this
so far away from home?
A voice comes to you,
a chill runs through you,
and you are not alone.

Far in the distance I hear
a voice that interrupts,
and my reverie
is telling me..
“It’s time now to WAKE UP”
