Pointillism On Steroids Poem by Mark Heathcote

Pointillism On Steroids

It's an illusion to fall in love.
Love is an abstract art form
you know what it is
but you can't pin it down
its pointillism on steroids
without a single straight line
but the sky and the trees wear
a heavenly starry crown
and what makes it worse is
it's an ever-newly created pastiche
made up of the old but always
slightly different, so 10yrs down-
the line and nothing remains the same
George becomes Georgina
and Georgina becomes George
with a gender-neutral name like Waverley.
Undeniably the world has gone insane.
But irrefutably, the universe
and the world is yours all the same.
