Plato Poem by Ben Partenay

Plato

Rating: 4.5

we do not see it
we see images
of it played out
puppet shows
on cave walls

there are trees
growing through cracks
brick walls
being built through houses
words searching
for words in my dry mouth

perception
is nothing
love
is nothing
more than this
hand on yours
is nothing less
than two planets
colliding

i really liked this ben... i like how you tie in the 'perception is nothing, ' as plato is all about using knowledge to find what's real and not relying on the senses for anything objective. what i got out of this was- is love an ultimate real, or not, because all you've been able to grasp of it comes from the senses. anyways, even if that's completely off base, it's what i took it to mean :) - jennifer ps) i would say love is real, 'knowledgeable' or not.. go w/ the senses
