Passionate Pedant Poem by gershon hepner

Passionate Pedant

Rating: 5.0

Though I am passionate as pedant,
give me heads-up when I am hedoned,
and blow me, like a hole in ozone,
ignoring signs that say “No Go Zone.”
No more will I fight Big Tobacco,
though you may think that I am wacko;
I am, I know, because I think,
and now it’s time for me to drink,
for hedonism is the cause
to which I, crawling on all fours,
have dedicated middle age,
as I, pedantic, turn the page
and hedonistically search
for consolation not in church
or mosque or even synagogue,
before old age creates the fog
when I to pedantry return,
with no more passion left to burn,
pursuing hedonism. Oh,
give heads-up if you’ve time to blow!
