Partners In Love, Partners In Crime Poem by AnaDiamond AA

Partners In Love, Partners In Crime

Rating: 4.5

I was his girl; loved him without a rest
He was my man; his love was blest
But together we looked like such a mess;
I wanted love but he wanted success, yes
Treated me like a princess; true love when undressed
World depressed us, future stressed us, but we were two people in the process -
Of love
Money, sex and my body - baby sickly obsessed
But we are the best, yes yes

He thought I was weak as I did things wrong
But my baby kept me in his arms ‘cause that's where I belong
And he knew if we would stick together,
We could push through the throngs,
Nothing could ever break our bond so strong
And on dark rainy nights, I would stare at the roof and sing his song,
"Makes no difference where I go or what I do.
You know that I'll always be loving you"

But too soon things got hard,
He was taken into the dark yards
I was weeping on the kitchen floor,
Waiting, begging God to bring him back
My eyes were red and face so sore,
My heart was aching and my mind unsure

Patrol!

Knock on my door,
Got up the floor
He dropped the cigarette, kissed me hardcore
"Diamond Doll, you're the one I adore and my love will always be yours, but we need to go"
He stood me up like a condor, we were out of control

His hands in cold blood for committing a crime
"Diamond Doll, they are after me, but please don't cry"
Swallowing my tears,
Why, baby, why?
"We gotta go, Diamond Doll, I need you to try"
There was no time for answers,
All I could take was my parents' photo and my dead flowers

We wrote our last regards and sent few postcards
It broke my heart to leave everything behind but I loved him, only him, for tonight
I could see it; his smile, too, was now scarred

Wrinkled polka dot dress on the run,
High-heels clattering as I saw his gun
Heart pounding on my chest, I was scared but he was my loved one
Well, well, well, I couldn't drive but I had to steal my dad's old car

Now we will drive until we see the stars,
Drive it fast, drive it far
Drive it until we find a place where we can be who we are
