P.H.S Blues Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

life can make you become hard
nothing can move your heart
weighing you down each day
but you can not walk away
absence of love nestles lust
severed the mind, greatly demoralized
see no need to begin to trust
beauty tainted by what is often glamorized
will someone ever come along
who is worth it, who is truly deserving?
it's another sad love song
and it is a to be continued
We had moments, at the time, I didn't notice
talking on the phone long, hours, long
then: I knew I fell in love with you
that if it were decided on, i'd be ready
that if I were to go along, it would be heavy
I was so hesitant and it was evident
I couldn't move forward, I was at a stand still
I grieved for a death I hadn't foreseen
if I been more present, I would've given consent
guess I cared much more than I knew
being willing to make quite the sacrifice
having given up on something that I loved
and when I fell hard, I couldn't get up
I couldn't pick up the pieces and try again
and you didn't know of these wild thoughts
but you had an idea something was in my heart
I just couldn't let you near
I realized, your love was one that had impact
my mind absorbed each contact
and I have grappled with this back and forth
not trying to allow my mind the power to distort
all I was feeling in my heart
you wanted for us to be something more
you wanted for me to open up the door
and then I would close it,
while you were half way in
still the record would spin
so beautiful to the ears,
the message was well received
I didn't want anyone but you
Something you didn't know
maybe you did know
but the pressure gotten to the point
where I could no longer control
What would make me addicted
my heart was so conflicted
and if you understood it,
you would comfort me and make it better
but because of the circumstances
there'd be no time for romances
'you do not trust'
when you've found someone to call soulmate
you've found a love time couldn't replace
and though you are aware of this
you try and obtain what you feel
your heart has missed
