Outside In Poem by Scot Warren

Outside In

The night was cold and dark
As rain fell down everywhere like god’s tears
With the sun on the opposite side of the earth we sat in his shadow
Sitting inside awaiting his song.
Away from the light we were constricted.
Illuminated by the moons glow.

We sat by the fire while the warm glow
Sang to our skin with some kind of heat song.
With the fire, the room was still dark.
Dancing on the wall was my shadow
While the wood in the pit cried fiery tears.

My mind keeps me constricted,
Humble in my word, although it is dark,
An angel cries luminescent tears
Creating an everlasting glow
She sings a joyful song
As I sit back and stand in her shadow

This constant constriction causes tears
Leaving a dark constant glow
Standing in the shadow, singing no song
