Our Roads Poem by Somanathan Iyer

Our Roads

Sounds of vehicles deafens the ears
dark smokes choke the nostrils
dusty winds torment the vision
undergo all these people on roads

Speeding vehicles from hind and front
rule the road with no rules followed
haste and rash appear their taste
caring hardly for any others on the roads

Narrow roads add more to the woes
Bigger vehicles besiege the roads
two wheeler s encroach any space left
resulting in traffic jams for hours together

Cattle on the roads rattle the public
moving in groups they occupy all the gaps
deface the roads by dropping their excrete
create panic by racing in sudden surge

Pedestrians find them lost in the melee
hardly they find any space to move
with vanished paths under wheels of vehicles
waiting is the only option till traffic gets cleared

Traffic woes are nicely depicted in the poem. The poem also provides details on why the jams are created. Nice poem.
