Our Only Dream Poem by Leonard Dabydeen

Our Only Dream

Together
we raise a banner
high above
faces of the crowd
and we walk
this earth
day after day
shredding blindfolds
steeped in torture
and ignominy of hate
not watering eyes
ever watchful
in faith
for human rights
human dignity
rhapsodies across horizons
as we carry banners
and our voices echo
for ever Freedom
our only dream.
