Our Bed Poem by Sallie Howson

Our Bed

Rating: 2.0

And when I wake
And you are gone
I place
My hand
On the pillow
Where your head
Lay.

I bury
My face
In the sheets
And catch
Your smell
Still
Clinging there.

The bed
Refuses
To give up hope
Of your
Homecoming
But I
Know better.

There’s no
Return
From where
You’ve gone.
No welcome back
No happy ending
Just…………space.

But
I’ll leave
The bed
It’s dreams.
It’s memories
Of romantic nights
And bed delights.

I
Won’t be the one
Who rips the
Bed clothes
From it’s grip
And
Washes
You
Away.
