My Hat Poem by Sallie Howson

My Hat

Rating: 5.0

I bought a hat today
Ready for the Siberian wind
They’ve been promising for a week.
I hate winter
And the cold
And the grey
And the fake Christmas jollity.
Humbug.

My hat is orange,
Bright orange,
A juicy persimmon
On a tree that’s lost its leaves.

The city women wrap up warm
In their fashionable
Grey and black
But I have dreams of summer
In my wonderful
Orange hat.
