Otiose Poem by Niki Nicholas Nkuna

Wronged intentionally I struck back hard
Believing that the hurt will be felt the same way
Unfortunately the impact came with a strange tinge
Because it came from me
I can’t say I’m contented by the reprisal

Only because the strike is slant
Only because he has not lost a limb as I’m
Only because mine happened out of the blue,
At night and heightened my anxiety and pain
Only because he knew what discomfort to expect
And was ready for his pay

I was not aware of the danger and the inclement weather
The original pain took centre stage
I could only resign and recline, soak in the pain
