Originality Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Originality

If people did not have the courage,
To remain focused...
On that which had captured,
Their curiosity to explore the unknown.
Many today would not have experienced,
The seeking to find something different...
Strange and weird to call theirs.
When there was a time the weird and different,
Had been avoided to keep a distance from it.
But today?
Finding a way to appear strange and different,
And as weird as possible...
Takes an expense to duplicate.
Only to discover it quickly imitated.
By those who can not wait for comments made,
About their 'originality'!
