On Reading Jayanta Mahapatra's The Whorehouse In A Calcutta Street

You move on with the dream girl of yours,
The heart queen, the beauty queen of yours
Seen in the posters, on the hoardings
Engaging your dreams, catching your imagination
And you inside the house with the courtyard
Whose pillars full of conspiracies
And the dark corners full of whispers
Under the starlit skies
Telling love bought and sold for money.
