Ole Time Something Poem by Natasha MaginleyFrancis

Ole Time Something

Dem Ole time something
Bring back a bag a memory
And a wealth a knowledge
And what a belly hotting laugh de ge we.
Long donkey years ago
Hag min ask he muddur what mec she mouth so long
Mumma hag answer with she Antiguan twang
Ahhh boy! when you come you will know.
Me can remember when fu me granny Winifred
Does Utter dem same words de out she mouth
And if you think back a while
Ah sure bet you can help me out.
Look me in me eye and tell me say
You don't remember dem ole time thing de
Back in de day that was fu we entertainment
Cause we could not be caught dead
Watching that thing granny call 'de box'.
And me could never mec she granny see me idle
Cause fu she mouth didn't have no style
All me hear she granny shout
Gal find something fe do
Empty vessels make de most noise.
Nuf work de fu do so make haste while de sun shine
Take your pick or mek you choice
And remember; things done by half can never done right.

Written in rememberance of my grandmother (Winifred Luke)
