An Innocence Lost Poem by Natasha MaginleyFrancis

An Innocence Lost

AN INNOCENCE LOST

Delicate like the green pastures
Of which we were told
And like the still waters
Her innocence grew cold

Although our meetings
Were far and few between
My memory of this precious child
Forever will remain

As between the halls of her safe haven
Those little feet ran through
And her curious hands often touching everything
If only we knew

Today we mourn a loss
For this innocence we will miss
But today we simply say goodbye
And seal it with a kiss

Tomorrow we must celebrate
The life that she has lived
And continue to remember
The joys she once gave

We were all blessed to have had
This angel in our lives
But now her spiritual journey begins
To that giant play ground in the skies.
