Ode To Life Poem by Edwina Reizer

Ode To Life

Oh to be born and accept the forgetting
into a life of stress and fretting
does not seem fair
since we forget from where
we came.

We take on the trials of life on earth
and soon cannot remember
what peace there was before we came.
A died out ember
for me in December.

Awakened to a new purpose for now
and so we finally learn somehow
to encompass life,
all joy and strife
and live.

We find new joys in girls and boys
playing with their earthly toys.
And as we grow
it's then we know
that's over.

We lose ourselves into a man-made prison
for in the mind has arisen
the fears of losing
and the fear of choosing
wrong.

And through it all our heart is there
and helps to become aware
of purpose each morn,
for why we were born
on earth.

The natural wonders we came to explore,
the stories, the stars, the love, the lure
of every beautiful thing
and the reason we sing
and we remember.

We asked for permission to come again
to help out our fellowmen,
to quiet ourselves down inside
and take all things in our stride
until we travel home.
